Public Accounts Committee
The Public Accounts Committee is a Standing Committee established under the Public Accounts Committee Act 1992. The Act empowers and requires the Committee to examine and report to Parliament on:
- the Financial Statements of the Republic together with the reports of the Director of Audit; and
- the Financial affairs of public corporate bodies that are required to report their financial activities to Parliament.
The Committee is also required to inquire into any question in connection with the public accounts referred to it by Parliament and report it to the House.

Work of the Committee
In February 2010 the Public Accounts Committee commenced an Inquiry into the
Special Report of the Director of Audit 1998 – 2008 as follows:
- PART I - Government Accounts
- PART II - Financial Affairs of State Owned Enterprises
- PART III - Duties, Powers and Functions of the Director of Audit and the Activities of the Audit Office
This Inquiry will continue in the 20th Parliament, and any Reports of the Committee will be posted on this page as soon as they have been tabled in Parliament.
